Unfortunately, the omnipresent effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have hit the music business particularly hard. We’re excited to see that the industry has banded together to support one another, providing relief to those who need it most. We at FanLabel are contributing to the cause during these hard times, too, and we invite you to join us.

FanLabel has teamed up with MusiCares — the charitable foundation for the Recording Academy® — and will be donating 100 percent of app revenue from the months of April, May and June to MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund. That includes all Royalty purchases and Fantasy Contest pass purchases you make during gameplay.

MusiCares’ mission is to support the music industry all year long by providing assistance and resources in times of need. There is no bigger time of need than right now. Here is their mission statement

“MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares’ services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies, and each case is treated with integrity and confidentiality. MusiCares also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly influence the health and welfare of the music community.”

Please contribute to this great cause by purchasing Royalties and Fantasy Passes within the FanLabel app. Just tap the buttons in the top right corner of the screen. Your Passes are in purple, indicated by the ticket icon. If you tap on this button, an option will appear to purchase more. Your Royalty count is right next to the Passes icon, designated by the Royalty icon in red. Again, tapping on that button brings up the purchasing option for more Royalties.

MusiCaresAdditionally, if you’d like to go further, we’ve added a direct donation button available in the FanLabel app.

We do want you to know that there are added benefits of purchasing Royalties. For example, you could use the Royalties you’ve earned or paid for to purchase 100-percent officially licensed artist merchandise in the FanLabel Marketplace (in-app only). Additionally, building up your earned Royalties helps you move up the FanLabel leaderboard.

Passes are needed to enter Fantasy Contests, which gives you the opportunity to sign the artists you think will generate the most streams over the contest duration. Fantasy Contests are monthly “seasons” but are broken up weekly (one contest per week for four weeks makes for a full season). We run at least three Fantasy seasons per month, and each varies by genre. It takes 5,000 Royalties to acquire one Draft Pass, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to purchase additional Passes and have them stocked up in case you’re short on Royalties one week.

Another benefit of having more Passes in the queue is that it allows you to swap out your artist picks more often. One pass gives you the opportunity to swap up your label’s signed artists once per week, but if you want to switch your picks around to get a leg up, you can spend a second pass per week, per contest, to pick better performing artists and rise up the leaderboard.

Of course, you may earn Royalties from regular gameplay, and you can purchase Fantasy Contest Passes using the Royalties you’ve built up through such gameplay. So, even if you wouldn’t normally feel the need to purchase our in-app features, we ask you to consider doing so in order to support your favorite artists and, overall, to help get the music industry through this hard time.

If you’re a FanLabel user, consider stepping up your in-app purchases this month, as you’ll be donating directly to a great cause, and having fun along the way. If you’re able to, please give to MusiCares! And if you prefer to donate directly online, you may do so here
